2024 Nissan Sentra vs 2024 Mazda3

The great thing about getting a Sentra or Mazda3 is that you can enjoy a better-than-average driving experience at a reasonable cost. Both sedans radiate a stunning aesthetic while giving you the power you need to feel confident, so which one should you choose? While both cars are incredible, the Sentra is better at putting on a show that never gets old.

Performance

Nissan isn’t one to shy away from daring design choices, but that’s exactly why their vehicles are so popular. The Sentra is a perfect example, making an otherwise ordinary engine stand out from the crowd. It sports a 2.0L with 149 horsepower, but it’s what you do with that power that matters. With active grille shutters, a multi-link rear suspension system, and an advanced steering system, every drive will feel exciting with premium handling. With Nissan, you can enhance your Sentra even further with an Intelligent Engine Brake, Intelligent Trace Control, and Active Ride Control to help you dominate curves, hills, and bumps for a truly unstoppable experience.

The Mazda3 is advertised to be performance-driven, but that’s only reflected in the engine options. The standard SKYACTIV-G engine provides 191 horsepower while the upgraded 2.5L turbo engine gives you 250, but it’s missing the sporty elements that make the Sentra so much more fun to take for a spin. You should also note that these powerful engine options come at a price. The Mazda3 can only pump out up to 28 in-city and 37 highway miles per gallon. Meanwhile, the Sentra can squeeze out 30 in-city and 40 highway miles per gallon.

Safety Features

The new Sentra comes standard with Nissan Safety Shield 360 complete with 6 useful safety and driver-assist features. However, you’re not limited to just those features. The Sentra has the potential to be an iconic symbol of proactive safety when you deck it out with all of the available features. One of our favorite add-ons is the Intelligent Around View Monitor which gives you practically every angle you can imagine so nothing gets past your sight. Intelligent Cruise Control is also incredibly useful by working to keep you a safe distance from any cars or objects ahead of you. Lastly, Intelligent Forward Collision Warning can come in handy by keeping tabs on two cars ahead of you while warning you to slow down if necessary.

The safety and driver-assist lineup in the new Mazda3 is rather basic in comparison. Blind-spot monitoring helps you see where you normally can’t, lane assist warns you when you’re starting to tread out of bounds, and auto high beam control turns your brights on and off for you so that’s one less thing on your mind. However, it’s hard not to appreciate the upgraded “intelligent” features in the Sentra.

Interior

Even if precision and handling are at the forefront of your priorities when looking for a sporty ride, it doesn’t hurt to have a fun and cozy cabin. The new Sentra flawlessly excels at both, giving you an interior layout that’s just as exciting as the sleek and aerodynamic exterior frame. Many of the cabin design choices exhibit inspiration from the GT-R such as the Prima-Tex chairs lined with orange contrast stitching. 6-way power adjustments make it easy to find that perfect spot, and the available Dual Zone Automatic Temperature Control System keeps the atmosphere ideal without you getting sidetracked by the knobs and dials. There’s so much more to brag about the new Sentra, but we’ll leave it at the available Bose premium audio system to entertain your every drive

Like the Sentra, the new Mazda3 also has an available Bose speaker system and dual-zone climate control feature, but it’s missing one key component that only the Sentra has, and that’s a sporty personality. It’s clear that Nissan put extra care into the Sentra’s overall sporty aesthetic, and while the Mazda3 is still rather stylish, it’s lacking uniqueness.

Bottom Line

Considering all of the amazing things that we mentioned about the new Sentra, what’s your guess on the price tag? You probably couldn’t have anticipated this, but the new 2024 Nissan Sentra starts at $20,630! If that’s not the definition of attainable, then we don’t know what is. Judging by the fact that the less-impressive Mazda3 starts at a much higher $24,170, we have a clear winner on our hands.
