2024 Nissan Rogue

2024 Nissan Rogue vs 2024 Kia Sportage

It’s easy to fall for a car that’s hip and trendy, but harder to deal with the buyer’s remorse that follows when that trend fades. Cars should leave a lasting impression, offering reliability for countless years. In this comparison, you’ll see for yourself how the 2024 Nissan Rogue is a worthy companion while the 2024 Kia Sportage is just for show. Ready for your next family-friendly SUV? 2024 Nissan Rogue vs 2024 Kia Sportage

Kia knows how to captivate its demographic with an eye-catching revamp every couple of years, but you should know that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. Underneath the flashy exterior of the Sportage is an ordinary ride, but Nissan is anything but ordinary when it comes to the Rogue. We’re going to show you why the new 2024 Nissan Rogue is a better partner on the road than the latest 2024 Kia Sportage that can’t catch up to its competitor.

Performance

Starting off strong, the latest 2024 Nissan Rogue comes with a 1.5L VC-Turbo engine with up to 201 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque. Nissan is infamous for its VC-Turbos and we’re glad to see that it’s still a valuable asset in the brand’s powertrains. Another valuable asset is the iconic Xtronic CVT system that delivers a dynamic driving experience for any ride whether it be a regular trip to the grocery store or a pleasure cruise to the beach. Include the adaptive Intelligent AWD system with 5 different drive modes and you can customize your ride to your liking. Other than these fancy features, we especially love the Rogue’s high fuel rating of 30 in-city and 37 highway miles per gallon.

What does the new Kia Sportage get you? A 2.5L engine with only 187 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque. Without Nissan’s clever engineering, the Sportage’s engine fails to match the Rogue’s horsepower despite its larger size. The mileage isn’t anything to brag about, either. The 2024 Sportage barely gets you 25 in-city and 32 highway miles per gallon. Kias may be known for being cheap, but you’ll end up paying what you saved in gas. For the long haul, the Rogue will save you much more with fewer trips to the gas station.

Safety Features

We almost feel sorry for Nissan’s competitors because it’s tough to beat ProPILOT Assist, especially with Navi-Link included. If you don’t know, this is the brand’s intuitive driving system that works as a helpful guide on the road, utilizing GPS navigation to fine-tune your driver-assist features. It’s something that you have to experience for yourself to truly understand, but take it from us, you won’t want to pass up the chance to add this feature to your drive. Other than ProPILOT Assist, the Rogue also supports an Intelligent Around View Monitor for extra awareness on all sides.

The Kia Sportage doesn’t have anything like ProPILOT Assist which is already a letdown, but even the standard package of safety features can’t really compare. While Nissan’s Safety Shield 360 package is pretty solid, Kia Drive Wise could use a little more work considering it’s now 2024.

Kia Drive Wise

Nissan Safety Shield 360

  • Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist
  • Lane Keeping Assist
  • Lane Following Assist
  • Park Distance Warning
  • Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection
  • Rear Cross-Traffic Alert
  • Rear Automatic Braking
  • Lane Departure Warning
  • Blind Spot Warning
  • High Beam Assist

Interior

Remember what we said earlier about functionality? The Nissan Rogue is a prime example of that when you take a look inside. The cargo area supports an available Divide-N-Hide system that offers 6 distinct variations in how you can store your belongings. This can come in handy for groceries, DIY projects, camping trips, or simply hauling your items from one place to another. Include the Motion Activated Liftgate for the complete cargo experience! Along the same vein, available remote-folding rear seats are also a nifty feature to have so you don’t need to crawl inside to adjust your cargo space.

The Kia Sportage offers close to the same amount of cargo space, but it lacks innovative solutions that make the Rogue fun and convenient to use. The Sportage also isn’t the best in other categories, like comfort and entertainment. It supports a dual-zone automatic climate control system, but the Rogue one-ups it with available tri-zone automatic climate control. And while the Sportage offers an available 8-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, the Rogue can support a 10-speaker Bose audio system. The Sportage may be pretty, but we’re not here just for looks. The Rogue is also rather stunning, anyway.

Bottom Line

Don’t let the Kia Sportage’s brand-new look fool you. The new 2024 Nissan Rogue is the better ride, delivering an incredible powertrain setup, ProPILOT Assist with Navi-Link, and a modular storage system. We know that with just one look inside the Rogue, you’ll see why it’s the first choice for many families.
