A stylish SUV feels right at home in Port Richey, Bayonet Point, and Jasmine Estates, FL. The Nissan Murano and Ford Edge are two great-looking SUVs that offer a comfortable drive, lots of features, and peace of mind.

Which one is right for you, though? Maus Nissan of New Porth Richey put this 2020 Nissan Murano vs. Ford Edge comparison together to help you decide.

Interior Design

The Nissan Murano offers the feeling of a luxury car. Semi-aniline leather seats are available with a beautiful cross-stitched diamond pattern. The center console and doors feature classic wood accents, while the leather-wrapped steering wheel is both soft and well-made.

The Ford Edge also offers a leather-wrapped steering wheel and leather seats, but they don't feature the same premium craftsmanship. There's no cross-stitching, plus the cabin doesn't have the same classy wood trim.

Safety Features

The Nissan Murano is built to protect you. It offers Intelligent All-Wheel Drive on every trim level and features 10 airbags. The interior includes a pair of front airbags, driver and passenger knee airbags, seat-mounted side-impact airbags in both rows, and roof-mounted curtain airbags.

You can also strap small passengers in tightly with Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH).

To help prevent accidents, there's Nissan Safety Shield® 360. This system gives you more awareness, while you drive with the following driver-assistive features:

  • Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection
  • Rear Automatic Braking
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert
  • Blind Spot Warning
  • Lane Departure Warning

While these features will watch out for you during your drive, you'll be able to see what's around your SUV using a camera system. The standard RearView Monitor gives you a better look at things when you're backing up, while the available Intelligent Around View Monitor creates a 360-degree overhead view of your SUV.

The Ford Escape also comes with LATCH, but it can't protect you as well, with only seven airbags. Some similar safety features come standard, including a rear-view camera. Unfortunately, it doesn't offer you as much visibility. A front-facing 180-degree camera is available, but it doesn't offer anything that can give you an overhead view.

Infotainment System

A quality infotainment system can also make your drive safer. For example, the Nissan Murano comes with a Bluetooth® hands-free phone system and a Hands-free Text Messaging Assistant. On top of making calls and replying to messages, Nissan Voice Recognition comes standard, so you can use the whole system without taking your eyes off the road.

That system lives on an 8-inch touchscreen in the dashboard. It lets you stream music with Bluetooth®, and connect your smartphone apps with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™.

The Ford Edge also includes a Bluetooth® compatible 8-inch touchscreen. While it features Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, it doesn't include a text messaging assistant.
