The 2022 Nissan Frontier Pro-4X is Built for Off-Roading Post

The all-new 2022 Nissan Frontier Pro-4X has been 17 years in the making for the Nissan nerds here at Maus Nissan of New Port Richey. And this completely new mid-size pickup is built to tackle any terrain around Florida, and beyond that, you want to throw at it—short of driving it across the Gulf!

Today, we wanted to take a quick look at exactly why the Pro-4X is built for off-roading and some of the beast mode features you'll discover when you drive yours for the first time.

The new Frontier is designed using a drastically modified version of the outgoing truck's F-Alpha architecture that it shares with the Titan. Instead of building a brand-new chassis for the Frontier, Nissan decided to upgrade the chassis and instead invested those costs into areas that impact its ability to tackle any terrain with ease like design, powertrain, and off-roading technology. The Pro-4X's suspension consists of double front wishbone IFS and rear leaf springs coupled with a solid axle. Some of the new features include hydraulic cab mounts to further isolate the occupants from the rough-and-tumble world outside, urethane jounces, a dynamic steering damper, and retuned rack-and-pinion with steering gear ratio increased by 16 percent.

The Frontier comes with a direct-injected 3.8-liter DOHC V-6, a nine-speed combo that puts out a beastly 310-horsepower. And it's even more fuel-efficient than the previous four-cylinder model.

Off-Roading & Technology

The Frontier's perfect mid-size body allows it to navigate tight spaces, and the Bilstein shocks make any terrain look easy. Frontier is a fun little truck built for off-roading with a traction control system that ensures your truck keeps moving in 4-Hi.

And with its low first gear of 5.425, the Frontier has a solid crawl ratio of 54.42, and if that's doesn't do it for you, the hill descent control system is highly effective, and you won't have any of the loud solenoid firings of the competition.

These are just a few of the ways that the Pro-4X is blowing the competition out of the water with its off-roading capabilities.
