Rugged work trucks like the Nissan Frontier and the Toyota Tacoma are the smart way to tow large loads to a work site or haul adventure gear to the beach for the day in Port Richey and the surrounding areas. They're both great work trucks, and offer the latest safety technology to keep you safe while on the road. To help you choose between these two powerhouses, the team at Maus Nissan of New Port Richey created this 2021 Nissan Frontier vs. 2021 Toyota Tacoma comparison. Take a look!

Performance

With a massive towing capacity of 6,720 lbs and 1,460 lbs of payload, the Nissan Frontier outmuscles the Toyota Tacoma. You also will get 18 mpg in the city, and 24 mpg on the highway with the Frontier. The Frontier comes equipped with a standard direct-injection 3.8-L V6 Engine with 310 hp. You'll be ready to tackle those big jobs with the standard 9-speed transmission and a full-length boxed ladder frame. The Frontier will get the job done!

The Tacoma has a 3.5 L V6 direct-injection engine and offers a 6-speed transmission on some trim levels. While the available tow-package will help this truck tow up to 6800 lbs, without the tow-package it can tow 6400 lbs. The Tacoma's payload is up to 1440 lbs.

Interior

The Nissan Frontier was fully redesigned inside and out for 2021! With a stylish and comfy cabin, you can choose from King Cab or Crew Cab seating configurations plus heated front seats, and dual-zone automatic temperature control. Both leather-appointed seats and PRO 4-X embroidery are available. To make your midsize truck feel a little more luxurious, you can upgrade to a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a wrapped leather shifter comes standard.

The Toyota Tacoma also has a stylish interior but doesn't have the same luxurious feel. While leather seats are available, the leather-wrapped shifter is only available on the TRD and Limited trims.

Infotainment System

The Nissan Frontier offers a user-friendly 8-inch infotainment system equipped with Nissan Connect with Navigation, and audio streaming via Bluetooth. With Nissan Mobile Partner, you can search with Google, Facebook, Pandora, TripAdvisor, and more.

The Toyota Tacoma also features an infotainment system that comes equipped with Apple CarPlay. The touchscreen is smaller at 7 inches, but this feature is not available on all trim levels.

Safety Features

You can always count on Nissan for being on the cutting-edge of safety technology, and the Nissan Frontier is no exception. You can drive with confidence knowing that the Frontier is equipped with 6 standard airbags, vehicle dynamic control, a traction control system, and anti-lock brakes. Not to mention the host of other safety features including LATCH and Snug Kids, tire pressure monitoring system, and zone body construction with front and rear crumple zones. Plus, the Nissan Frontier has a rear-view monitor and an available rear sonar system.

The Toyota Tacoma also has numerous safety features including the Star Safety System but it is not as all-encompassing as the Nissan Frontier's safety features.
